Most Chinese trees are blight resistant. What type of hybrid are you looking for?
Im a member of ACF, so I have some Americans planted in anticipation of the blight resistant mother trees being released. I’ve also gotten some hybrids from Twisted tree farm, but a lot went bad due to mold. I had used sand in a 5gallon bucket with minimal success. I’m interested in hybrids that can survive up in northern ny with blight resistance. You likely know better than me what’s out there.
Why are you growing them? Are you growing them just to grow the trees, for nuts for wildlife, for nuts for yourself, or for nuts to sell?
Nuts for myself and wildlife. I’m fascinated by chestnut trees due to their usefulness as well as the fact that most people don’t have them.
