Looks like bird damage to me as a squirrel would nibble while removing the peach and never leave it on the branch.
Fairies i guess but squirrels seems more likely. Thankfully thats not a trick my local ones have learned. At least not that early. Ive lost immature apples to what I’ve assumed was squirrel. They took the evidence with them so hard to nail it down.
Note the randomly-located pale spots on the Didier weevil image. These spots occur on many weevils, but in general are not useful to ID a particular species. The spots do however, eliminate Rhinusa tetra, as it is uniformly brown with no spotting.
All beetles (includes weevils) emerge from larval stage fully sized and mature. They would not become hairy with age. This goes for other insect families also.
I’m just calling it the Didier weevil like that’s its official name now
I was checking my apple trees today. One was completely defoliated and no signs of new leaves starting. I scratched a branch and i still saw green. Ill suppose ill have to wait to see if it recovers but im not sure what happened.
I dont see any signs of fireblight or other disease though im clearly overlooking something.
Did it ever flush out? My Redlove Era just never woke up. Took some grafts with it. Still green on the scratch, just lifeless.
I think so. The apples were starting to leaf out the first or second week of April. This Arkansas Black didnt seem to get very far. It has very small leaves that turned brown. A lot of the small brown leaves are still on the tree. You can kind of see it if you zoom in on the first picture. I thought it might be dead (and it might) but i still see green after scratching. I didnt see anything unusual with the bark.
Oh right, now a bug who sound like evil have my name !!!
LOL
My cherries seem having some issues. I sprayed them immunox this spring and minerals. Carmine Jewel showed wilted leaves right after flowers petals fall. Sweet cherry top leafs showed some browning , the bottom portion is fine. I am wondering what might be the causes hope some one here is able to help identifying the problem.
Here’s the leafs of Sweet cherry.
Here’s picture of Carmine Jewel wilted brunches
Is this a fire blight canker on my young apple tree?
According to Penn State, one indicator is a “pimple-like” fungal spore structure:

I just noticed the bark cracks yesterday. However, about a month ago, this tree showed some leaf damage - leaves wilting, turning brown, and dying - the cause was unclear at the time. Not sure what to do with this young apple tree - re-graft at the base, or just replace it.
I don’t know what it is. I do get branches like that on Carmine Jewel but not that many. I would definitely cut the dead branches off and dispose of them by burning or garbage.
The Carmine Jewel damage looks like Brown Rot Blossom Blight.Something stronger, like Indar, will probably help.
@danzeb, @Bradybb thanks for your inputs. I suspected some kind of blight, but can’t believe it. I sprayed the tree with immunox early spring. I will check the expiration date of the fungicide
Is this m how Italian prune plum look when leaves uncurling?
The leaves further down look fine from what I can tell.
The undersides of leaves, can be checked with a magnifier, for Aphids.
I will have to check tomorrow then. Thank you.
@Mysta That little flap on the bottom of the hole going outawards had me wondering if it could be some type of boring insect like copturus aguacate. But you’re in 8a so I don’t know. Wondering if a critter did that?
Yeah it was there when I got the tree but the white makes it look much worse, I was assuming maybe a branch got ran into and ripped off originally.
Hopefully it just got damaged by mistake or a critter. If so it should eventually scar over.it does look kind of deep. I’d lightly and gently clean it with some hydrogen peroxide and water then apply some aloe and some stretchy gauze to keep out any other insects disease. I’ve seen people rub garlic, honey and or cinnamon too. Or paint it with latex which I have done to stone fruit and citrus with good results. I’m certainly no expert at these trees but that’s probably what I’d do.
