Thank you Larry!
…see Edit, above.
Thanks that’s what it is yesterday I reached around a Pom in the back this time and heard that noise when it flew away. I killed another one there too. I’ll search daily now it says they’re the worst of all leaf footed bugs and spread pathogens.
I went on vacation and returned to my grape leaves looking like this- three separate immature vines. Any thoughts on what they could be? I’m in the north east
No idea, but I noticed this on mine recently to a lesser extent. I stopped spraying my grape along with everything in mid July or so.
I planted this Comice pear 2 years ago. each Spring it looks healthy but then over the course of the Summer, it only grows a few inches and it dries out., is this fire blight? I successfully grafter another pear variety onto it and it seems less damaged by the disease- see the greener leaves in the lower right. Compared to my other red bartlet tree, this one just seems to be struggling considerably. I even used a disease resistance spray this year, but didn’t seem to address the issues.
I’m now considering my options- should i cut it down to a few inches this spring and just graft on a whole new variety? Or Do you think the roots are infected and it needs to be pulled out altogether?
Thanks
Not the burnt hook pattern that id associate with FB but it could be another disease. My crimson crisp apple pulls similar shenanigans. It grows well all season then stuggles to finish the season off. It’s not even supporting fruit yet. I thought it was just dry due to my beach sand soil but i have seen no improvement from deep waterings at the end of the season.
Do satsuma leaves turn red when the weather cools? They came out green in spring, turned red when sick with shot hole, leaf spot and nutrient deficient, then started growing again green, and now back to red. But, no signs of disease and it’s now well fed and watered. Is this not satsuma? Are there any Japanese plums Cummins sells that have leaves like this? They sell Cocheco that seems to have red leaves and red new wood like this…
Might be Cocheca. I googled it and looked at the images page: first photo labeled this name and Raintree with reddish leaves.
Thanks, for thinking about it’ I saw that too. Though cocheco seem darker maroon. I’m wondering if it might be European? The leaves are very broad and get broader towards the tip.
Should anyone else new to fruit growing be confused by their satsuma leaves turning red: Cummins corresponded with me and sent me pictures of their satsuma trees, and they also turn this red now and the leaves are the same broad/not point shape. Can’t find anything online showing that, but it is pretty identical to theirs.
Saw this stick-bug looking cutie a couple days ago…
Didn’t know we had anything like it in WA. This one would fit on my pinky fingernail.
Cute, but possibly deadly. One source has the identity,as a Leafhopper Assassin Bug.
Much too different looking!
I saw a few of these suckling on my mulberries a few weeks ago. I offed what i found
I can’t tell by the photos, but did yours have a kind of snout or proboscis?
No, but it appeared to have two very long antenna posing as legs.
This was on the underside of my tamarillo leaf.
Not quite sure but mine looks similar and I’m in zone 9 a/b. End of the season.
