Is Golden Mustache (Callisia fragrans) Edible?

I’m having trouble figuring out if Callisia fragrans is edible or not? So far all of the info I find Online about Golden Mustache talk about the medicinal uses but what about the edible uses?

I managed to find this study about Golden Mustache uses for the food industry, however I’m still not sure how to eat it.

Another Blog says “Moreover, the leaves and flowers of Callisia fragrans are edible, the plant has been used as a food source in tropical countries. The rhizomes are also edible and can be boiled or roasted.”.

Makes me wonder how is this plant a potent medicinal but then also an edible plant (Not far-fetched, Mint, Ginger, Tumeric, Garlic, Onion, exists for example)? Also Callisia fragrans is in the Commelinaceae (Dayflower/Spiderwort Family) & specifically in the subtribe Tradescantiinae which is the same subtribe that contains Edible Spiderwort Species such as Tradescantia virginiana & Tradescantia ohiensis. - Point being whatever toxicity/edibility Callisia fragrans has, it doesn’t fall far from edible relatives Genetically & thus likely shares similar edibility &/or toxicity traits.

I grow this plant on my windowsill all year long (Sometimes months without soil in simple tap water cuz the plant is just that fookin savage!). How incredible would this be if it’s also edible too! oddly enough animals don’t eat it - I wonder why (they also don’t eat garlic/onion even tho Alliums taste good).

does this plant even spread by rhizome? i thought stolons

now these are the good questions to ask!
