Is this a good time to bud pluots?

I have a very small garden and a Flavor Granade that is several years in a pot. it is not place-able close to a pollinator as the closest one is about 200 feet away. Also, it needs to go in the ground. I have been thinking of grafting a pollinator to it to solve this problem. Past attempts have not been successful. Here my trees have just started to flower and leaf out. Since I still need to do a little prunning I was thinking of budding with some of this new growth. Is this a good idea and is this a good time? I am in 8B agrea and we are done with frost for this year.

You need a developed bud for budding. So, you can do this now by using a bud from last year’s growth (preferably, one that is still dormant or at least not actively growing yet), or wait until mid-summer when buds develop on this year’s growth.
