Is this a peach/nectarine?

I don’t want to go to great lengths to protect this volunteer seedling only to find it’s a junk tree years down the road. Can someone confirm or rule out what it is?

That is a peach or nectarine. You won’t know until it sets fruit. Fuzzy little fruit will be peaches. If bald it’s a nectarine.

If you don’t like the fruit you can always graft it over though it may take a little practice.
