Is this elderberry?

I had pulled over on the side of the road right before my house and think that there is a patch of wild elderberry growing a block away. I’m 99% sure, but wanted more experienced eyes on it.

It sure looks like it. Here’s a basic guide you might find useful:

Here in the Puget Sound are we have the red elderberry, Sambucus rasemosa, native around most creeks. Lots of it growing on my farm but what I wouldnt give for some blue elderberry, Sambucus caerulea to be growing here. My dad would travel over the mountain and hike all over the place gathering the blue to make his jam, syrup and wine.
Guess I could plant some but Ive never heard of it or seen it growing at sea level.

That is so interesting. Thank you for mentioning this; I had never heard of blue. It’s sold here and no mention of it needing elevation.

Red elderberry fruit is not recommended to eat raw in large quantities.

“puked over…” (marknmt quoting) might be a possible outcome; this typo must have been edited to “pulled over”.

I found that jelly I made from the fruit was very acrid in aroma and flavor, but the person I gave the remainder to liked it.

Yes, I edited. I live right after a bend on a busy road where people speed, so I pull off and wait for no one to be coming so that I don’t get hit while trying to backk into my driveway.
