The Mediterranean climate is great for so many plants… Much better than a continental climate unless you are on a cold water coast like CA.

I was in Indonesia and was trying to make out a brightly colored tree that must have been 50+ feet tall… As I got closer I realized it was a tree completely overtaken by bougainvilleas.

Yeah, I love bougainvilleas but they take over your yard plus they are thorny. Our area is known for growing bougainvilleas, coastal, but I will admire them from afar.

I think citrus is from those parts so clearly it is a warm area. That being said hotels may have plants that are not specifically in the area. When I went to Dominican Republic the hotel compound had scenery that you would expect from a movie but the outside was pretty desolate. When I went to Maui they had tropical plants like you would see in a rainforest but the part of Maui I went to only gets 13 inches of rain.

My family has a place in the north west of Italy about 5km from a daily fruit and veg market. The flavour of all of produce is so different to typical supermarket produce it makes one wonder what the supermarket growers do to remove all the flavours!

PS Lovely pics
