Japanese Beetles / Carmine Jewel Cherry

Japanese Beetles have been bad for me this year, but they seem to leave my Carmine Jewel cherries alone. Here are two pics, one of a Damson Plum that got hit hard by JB, the other is a Carmine Jewel next to it with no damage. Both are unsprayed and actually touch each other in my orchard.

Noticed the same thing in Zone 7B! Japanese beetles really favored the Damson plum, Pristine apple, some grapes—and sampled the Li and Lang jujubes.

Agreed. JBeetles favourite foods are grape, plum and bean leaves. My Somerset grape is getting mauled badly this year. I keep hoping the beetle numbers start to decline over time, but this year seems worse than ever. I’ve got two lure/traps that get filled up in about a week. Seems to makes no real difference though as they’re still all over my plants. I live in a residential neighborhood with lawns everywhere so trying to control them at the grub stage isn’t realistic.

Those look like plums not cherries.
