Normally I don’t buy trees mail order, I buy them local. But the selections here have gone downhill the last few years. I shopped around and decided to give ‘Just Frutis and Exotics’ a try for a Nikita’s Gift persimmon tree. I had a Nikita’s Gift I had bought locally about 13 years ago for about $70.
The shipping was $33, which seemed fair for the weight and size of the box. The tree was priced fairly at $50. ($49.99) I was very happy with the service and tree I received.
I got my Nikita’s gift and Hanafuyu from them, along with many other things (Barbie pink guava) all nice sized like yours. They are pricey shipping but when the plants arrive it always makes sense. Great plants from them always
When I read the title, I thought it was something totally different. I thought it was going to be a review of Nikita’s Gift by “Just Fruits and Exotics”.
Enjoy your tree. I bought my “banded pot” NK from OGW in 2022. It was was tiny, with thickness less than a pencil. It’s similar in size to yours now, so you got a good head start in size.
These are at my local walmart now. 3 gallon very nice trees. I think $40. I bought nikitas gift, morris burton, prok and others last fall. They have them spring and fall here.
You are very lucky to find NG at Walmart. There are never any at Walmart’s here. I tried looking in 2 states. If COOP has any, they are $79, but none for the last few years.
That looks pretty good compared to what I’ve heard comes from OGW. Also makes me feel much less self-conscious of selling my wibbly-wobbly grafts. I try to get them to grow straight, but they often have other ideas.
The dates are listed on Chestnut Hill website…also where they ship them to and how many and what size. As i mentioned to someone else you can purchase direct from them and they are on sale right now. They ship dormant trees… but in walmart and rural kings they are fully leafed out.
I love JFE. I’ve bought quite a few from them and they have never disappointed. Bob Wells also has nice potted trees that are even bigger. Great luck with them as well.
I got a Nikita’s Gift (I think it was from Raintree), which is now about eight years old and doing well. The fruit is great. It has just leafed out. It always waits till well into May. It was slow growing till I laid down a good layer of compost all around it. Well, not right up to the trunk.
