Has anyone ever tried or considered mixing copper fungicide with a kaolin clay application? I’d like to kill two birds with one stone at certain points of the year on my plums and cherries and figured the clay might hold the copper to the plant for an extended period instead of just running off.
Kaolin clay seems an expensive way to extend retention time of copper on bark and buds, you can probably get similar or better retention if you just use a sticker or dish washer soap in you spray mix. Adding some vegetable oil will also help. Kaolin clay will wash off with every rainfall so I would not rely on it as a sticker. I would reserve it for use on deterring insects during the fruit development cycle, that’s its intended purpose.
