Keystone getting expensive

Keystone used to be cheaper than my normal agchem supplier, now known as Nutrien (so much more appealing that TPC for toxic pest control) but now seems considerably more expensive- almost 20% more. Shop and compare if you purchase chemicals from such a supplier.

Sounds about right. As long as we keep going in debt. About one trillion every one hundred days. Like the student loans what? Almost 8 billion announced yesterday? Those loans don’t go away, us taxpayers are paying it further adding to inflation. As we don’t have the money. One day no body will buy our debt anymore. That day is coming soon. Both parties have been extremely irresponsible. It’s time to close the purse.

Your comment has nothing to do with this topic. It isn’t about inflation or the fed debt, only about relative pricing of two competitors who sell products some of us use to grow fruit.

Nov. is getting close, let’s try to avoid obvious politics. This forum isn’t for discussing federal policy and no longer offers a category where it is permitted.

Yes, I found it necessary to change my insecticide this year due to state restrictions, and my research showed I wasn’t necessarily using the most effective product. I also had to restock Horticultural Oil and fungicides. $750, more than twice what I’ve spent in the past @ Keystone (but 2 new products that were more expensive). I suppose I can’t complain too much considering the orchard has 660 trees now. Thanks for noting Nutrien, I’ll check to see what they have available up here. How do you buy from them, are they mailorder/internet?

For what they carry, (not as extensive as Keystone) Martins Produce Supplies LLC, has always been less expensive on thing I’ve ordered on line.

I order by phone. They have literally hundreds of outlets all over the country and may be a subsidiary of Loveland Chemicals. They seem to have an exclusive on Tactic, an excellent latex based spreader sticker that I rely on that is manufactured by Loveland, as is Captan Gold, a granular form that doesn’t leave much white residue on leaves or fruit.

If it’s a big order they deliver- most of mine come by UPS. That means I have to buy Captan in smaller bags as the larger ones are considered a fire hazard.

Their website is confusing but it does have a listing of their outlets so you can find the one closest to you to call.

I have not ordered from Keystone recently, they never had a good deal on what I wanted. I bought a few things off eBay recently and all worked out fine. Martins looks good, never tried them though.

The thing is that when I order I usually want a prompt delivery I can count on. Both Keystone and Nutrien run tight ships and have been entirely reliable and fast to deliver.
