Kudos apple - 2025 - 2026

Got some Kudos apples, they are sizing pretty good, similar to my Honeycrisp.
Tree is 2nd leaf, grown as tall spindle.

Based on my observation during 2025 growing season, Kudos might be prone to Bitter Rot, similar to his parent Honeycrisp.

How did the kudos end up for you? Did you notice leaf chlorosis issues like honeycrisp also?

I’d say kudos are affected by leaf chlorosis. Not sure if it’s apple mosaic virus or not.

I tasted that damaged apple - too soon, it was not ripe yet. Other two apples are still hanging, they just started coloring this week.

A big Kudos apple just dropped today! Unfortunately, it doesn’t have the advertised bright red color - probably because the tree was partially shaded. I only have one small apple left on the tree.

2026 update. Kudos seems to be an early bloomer with a long blooming period. I have about a dozen fruits set on a 3rd-leaf tree on G.11

How are your Kudos coming along? I have two 2nd leaf trees on g969 plus more little ones I just planted late spring. The Kudos seems to be quite happy at my place. Very little scab compared to the Zestar nearby. Must have some disease resistance. Seems more vigorous than triumph.

I let one of the 2nd leaf trees keep 4 apples because I have yet to try one. These were small whips last year when planted.

I do hear they may be prone to bitter pit so may want to be doing calcium sprays in the future.
