Life under the weed block cloth

I was putting my orchard to bed for the winter this past weekend. The wind had blown some of the weedblock cloth I had put down over the summer.

What was revealed was a network of tunnels under the cloth that the chipmunks had started to use to get around. I don’t know if this was during the summer or later but before the wind blew their cover off.

Yea, I have field mice haven’t caused unmanageable damage.

I use poison bait stations mercilessly. The only way I am able to control the population. And… I don’t feel bad about it.

Voles are everywhere here like that so much so I have a friend who won’t use mulch or ground covers of any type because of it.

i use block bait in pieces of pvc, placed around the property in the winter. haven’t had problems since doing this.
