I’m thinking of ordering a 5 gallon container of Lime Sulfur organic fungicide. This is an insane amount, but it’s the only thing I can find online. I think it’ll be about $200 with shipping. I’m wondering if anyone is interested in splitting some of it up. I don’t really want to mess with shipping it, I’d prefer to divy it up “pick up” style. I’m in Youngstown, Oh. Let me know if anyone in the NE Ohio / Western Pa area is intetested.
Lime Sulfur has been slowly disappearing from the retail market. It has been replaced by elemental sulfur, which is usually rated organic. Consumer brands such as Bonide offer it in small containers.
I’m in the same boat except I already ordered it knowing it would be more than I’d ever need. I have had it a couple years. If anyone would like some I’m in San Diego, CA.
I’m mainly interested in it for any kind of benefit it might provide for black knot on my plums. I cut hundreds of knots out a few weeks ago. I’d like to apply lime sulfur a couple times over the winter. I’ve heard it can fight existing spores to some degree. If it even made a 10-20% difference I’d be happy. I’ll do chlorothalonil in early spring, then more cutting. I just want to keep it to where the inevitable cutting effort is manageable. This year was almost unmanageable.
Check the product labels “directions for use” section for plum, and under that “black knot” for dosage.
Its funny you can only find it in 5 gal. Whenever i go looking for 5 gal everyone is sold out.
I can pick up 2.5 gal locally for 31.00 so thats usually what i end up doing.
I would check again online for 2.5 gal. I did see several vendors advertising.
