Little green pears

There is a pear tree on our property that grows upright and is very tall. It grows near three apple trees of unknown variety and is twice their height. It must be at least 50 years old and could be much older. We suspect it is a seedling, but if not, does anyone know what variety perhaps popular in the first half of the 20th century is little and green with some russeting, and quite hard when ready to be picked in mid-September? They soften but never get juicy. Not aromatic, not particularly sweet.

Their color is a bit more yellowy green than the picture indicates.
