Long time no see

It has been a while since I last post anything. The Polar Vortex of 2-15-21 with -31F killed 99% of my JT-02 hybrid persimmons. Sad… and also killed 90%of my 12 yrs old jujube with large caliber. Sad… pawpaws, Asian pears , and American persimmons did fine with -31F. I have been digging up jujube suckers and American persimmon rootstocks and potted them up. I will graft them this summer and planting them next Spring at my new average home. Anesthesia schedule is pretty busy these days. I will get back on GF when things slow down a bit. I changed my original house plan completely to this new one and we are digging the basement in a couple of weeks.

Tony, what’s more important fruit trees or a new house? For me it’s a easy one , fruit trees!

You are right Bob. Fruit trees. I am glad that you are still fishing and enjoyed all the citrus, figs and persimmons my friend.

It looks really good I like how the house is so open inside. Did you do a main hot tub or bath style hot tubs throughout? Love your floor plan it’s very nice. The pool in back and large windows look good. The inside growing space is impressive if someone asked me to pick out the house you designed I would know right away it was this one. The pool table in the recreation room looks very entertaining for family and friends. Like the large deck fans to move air during hot summer nights. The partial brick is also a nice touch to the house. Like others mentioned what I’m really wanting to see is a drone view of the yard once the new orchard is planted. Are you using callery pears for the rootstocks?

Yes, they are all callery pear rootstocks. I am also digging up some of the small pear trees that are are under 12 feet .

Very smart choice in my opinion for our area. Feel callery are superior to any other pear rootstock in many ways. Our climate is not easy on fruit trees! Since your 2 hours away your soil and climate are similar to mine.

Looking great, @tonyOmahaz5. Just add a greenhouse to that design and you’ll be all set!

Forgot to ask do you have room for a pond?

The 390 acre lake is only a few blocks away. May be a koi pond and a green house later.
