Looking for “Crawlers?"

Anyone else think “crawling” trees look good? I haven’t seen any references to them except for this post: Prospecting for Mulberries - #81 by Tana. Does anyone know a real name for them?

lDK, but the late Lon Rombough once related the story of one apple tree that had sort of ‘crawled/rolled’ downhill over 100 ft over a century and a half of falling over, rooting in, regrowing, falling over once again, rinse, repeat.

It happens very often with linden, alder and such. There is a swampy area with huge “crawling” willows behind our village. I like “crawling” much better than “phoenix”. The trees look like ancient ents crawling on their knees and definitely no fire or ashes are involved. Just saying…

Yeah… I would bet that some species do it more than others.
