Looking for Specific Apricot

Does anyone know where I can get an apricot called Ilona? I believe it’s also known as NJ 21-107?

I had this variety highly recommended for my area, with an advisory that it was sold by Adams County Nursery, but ACN doesn’t even have it listed. An email inquiry to them got crickets.

Can anyone assist? Scott, I believe you said in a previous post you had this variety? Can you share with me where you got it? Or if anyone else knows, I’d be thankful for any help you could provide.

Thanks again.

I’m not sure how to delete a topic, but after I typed this out, figured I’d give ACN one more whirl, and was transferred to someone who confirmed they had it, even though it wasn’t on the website.

Ordered one and hoping it does well here.

Its good to hear they have it. I heard they were selling it but never had a strong confirmation. I am a tester and signed a non-propagation agreement, thats why I have it. I am testing several of their cots and that one is as good as any of the other ones and overall looks to be a winner. Like all my other cots it got frozen out this year though - I think I had one of them.

I wonder when the patent on Ilona will expire.

Their 2017 catalog shows Ilona apricot ripening as early as June 24 near the Mason-Dixon. Nice.

Matt,

My Orangered just about ready to harvest. I woke it up early this year by bringing the pot into the sunroom in February. I’m water restricted it so I can get real sweet fruits.

Oh man. I am so jealous. Fresh cots taste so much better than canned cots. Enjoy.

Congrats, Tony. You do have a magic touch on growing fruit. They look so pretty. Don’t forget to report the brix.

My Orangered and Tomcot grafts were full of blooms until the freezing cold hit in early March. At least, the grafts survive.

Exactly three apricots on my Orangered tree, they colored up pretty well but still hard to the touch. It’s the first harvest for this second-leaf tree. Tomcot, Nicole, Tilton and Harcot are loaded though, I had to prop the branches.

Did you plant an Ilona and how’s she doing? Planted outdoors and if outdoors, in what neck of the woods (state or region)?
