I wanted to share a beautiful loquat tree I found that fruits in zone 8a Virginia. I was shocked to see so many fruits! I wasn’t even sure if they could fruit this far north unprotected. Is anyone fruiting loquat further north than Southeast Virginia?

Depends on what you mean by “further north!” There are many large, fruiting loquats here in Seattle, and I’m pretty sure there’s at least one on Vancouver Island, B.C.
But even though we’re quite a bit further north (latitude-wise), Seattle is zone 9a now, and some areas of Vancouver Island are even zone 10a, though it’s mostly 9a and 9b.

Very good point, but those are unique climates. I guess I should specify East Coast.

What pristine looking fruits, mine are all haggard haha the mockingbirds are only to blame for a good % of that too

I saw one fruiting in Durham, NC this weekend too. It also amazed me. Loquat is a great tree for zone pushing a little.
