Los Angeles fruit tourism

That is OK with me, that’s one I have to try hard to grow myself!

Good to know. I imagine they pick them ripe compared to shipping across the country.

@Richard we are headed to the desert today. I intend to pit stop at the citrus stand although Google tells me it may be temporarily closed (I assume due to the season). I am going to comb through my photos from a few years ago to see where we tracked down some amazing pomellos when we stayed in a citrus orchard Airbnb and see how close that was to our current expected route.

We will most definitely be stopping at Hadleys.

Yes there are a few trees with lots scattered on the ground. I tried just one and it was amazingly astringent like an unripe American persimmon, even though it was on the ground. I’m optimistic I’ll find a better one before the trip is done.

@SoCalGardenNut there is a farmers market nearby on Wednesday before I leave. I’m going to try to make it!

I’m getting fresh strawberries tomorrow here to make a Valentine’s Day cake. I’m seeing they are turning red in the field, it’s a farm stand.
