Low temps for several hours on Thursday

We’re looking at 19F/-7C tomorrow night. I re-read this thread and will pull most all my remaining apples tomorrow:

Follow up questions: How much will they improve after picking if they are picked very long before they’ve reached a certain point? Is there any way to determine a threshold of ripeness that means it’s worth picking them at all, the way there is with tomatoes?

Sure is getting cold where you are quickly. We have a little breeze but still in the 70’s.

It has been an unusual fall for sure. Often we’ll get a cold snap, maybe a frost, the first week of September, and then it’ll turn beautiful for weeks. This year is just so unpredictable. It’s supposed to get pretty cold for a couple of nights and then get pretty again. If we could just skip over Wednesday’s temps we’d likely be OK for another week:
