I may try growing and grafting my own apples.
Has anyone used (or seen reviews of) Malus angustifolia as a rootstock? It’s native to the SE/Mid Atlantic, shows some fireblight resistance, and would probably impart at least some dwarfing.
Any thoughts?
My thought is if it’s not being used already there’s a very good reason why. One possiblity would be lack of compatibility. But that’s only a guess.
I suspect it is being used as a minor part of the genetics from University of Minnesota? Anyone know for certain?
