Anyone know what this is? It looks like a marshmallow and has a hard plastic like texture. I figure it is a cocoon of some type. I’ve found a couple throughout the orchard.

i actually bought some online and tied them to treelimbs around my property this spring . all 5 hatched but i havent seen the babies yet. probably pretty small still.
I go out and gather them up in the fall before the woodpeckers and lawnmowers get them and have seen a big increase in population since.
