Martin peach

I was wondering if anyone on this board has ever tried growing the martin peach. From what I can tell White Oak Nursery is the only place you can get this. A description from their 2016 catalog is as follows.

Martin (+20): A peach found in this area along a fencerow that is very hardy, blooms late, resists leaf curl, and rarely gets brown rot. The medium sized yellow fleshed fruit is the highest quality fresh or canned, making it a good choice for home gardeners, but lacks the red color needed for markets. Only available on K-86 & K-1.

Does anyone here have any experience with this peach pertaining to taste, resistance and being on K-1 rootstock? Thanks everyone.

K.86 produces standard size peach trees and is rugged and adaptable to heavy soil. I’ve toured WhiteOak’s root cellar and have seen up close the substantial root system K.86 develops.

K.1 is fairly adaptable and somewhat dwarfing. I have Harrow Diamond on it (from WhiteOak) and after one year in the ground, it remains a smallish tree, growing slower than a Baby Crawford growing on Citation nearby.

You know as much as I do about Martin.

You might call Amos Fisher on the phone and ask him for more detail.
