I’m putting in an order for some aluminum fencing that I plan to grow maypops on. I’d love to get the fence in black powder coating, but have some slight concern that they might get burning hot on the maypops.
Anyone have thoughts? I’d imagine they’ll be fine but would be great to hear of someone already having success.
Aluminum has less heat capacity than steel.
I don’t believe heat capacity would be relevant, but rather thermal conductivity. A material can have absurdly high heat capacity, but a low thermal conductivity means it wouldn’t transfer that heat to the things around it.
Aluminum has a higher thermal conductivity than steel, hence my concern.
Edit: For example, a rock has wildly higher heat capacity than steel, but I’ll touch a rock on a hot day before I go near a steel beam that’s been baking in the sun.

I have black chain link and wild maypop grows all over it without issues. Fruit is pretty decent too
