I received 4 peach trees from them in 2023 and i would say the quality was good. Size was what i would expect for the low price.
I tried to place an order for plum last month but they would not honor their online advertized price so i gave up on em.
Just got a variety of rootstock from them, also interacted with owner on phone. All positive experiences. Roots all seemed healthy when I potted them yesterday.
I put in a very late order for an Ashmeadās Kernel and a Wickson on B118 as well as four rootstocks. They were already starting to leaf out when they arrived, and I was a little nervous as the leaves were pale from the darkness of the box. A month in and all are looking great! I thought the two trees seemed large for the price, and they had good looking roots. Trees were not stemmed. Both trees flowered, but I picked them off. Overall, Iām very pleased.
Got a couple trees from Mehrabyan this year: Mericrest nectarine and Selena peach. They came with a pretty good amount of roots, and are leafing out now. The Mericrest was a rather thick tree. They arrived April 24th, which these days is a very safe date for Omaha area (5b/6a). They had some damp sawdust around the roots (not shown in photos).
All the trees I bought from them a couple years ago are still alive and doing well.
Since I have a few min I thought Iād write up my experience with communications and the trees from Mehrabyan in 2025.
Summary: So far, very good!
I ordered my trees very early (11/3/2024) because the year before I was too late to get my top picks.
I asked for a March 10th shipping date (I actually figured that it would be wishful thinking; I wanted them closer to end of march but thought I could put them in the garage till I was ready to plant if they actually came on time). I wrote an email on the 14th asking if Iād be getting a shipping notification when they left. Got a reply 2 days later saying the trees werenāt ready yet and Iād get notified when they shipped. I got a shipping notification on the 18th. Trees arrived the 20th.
I though the communication was good and I live in the middle of nowhere and 2 day shipping is usually 2-4 day so that all went really well.
I ordered 11 trees - 3 peach, 3 nectarine, and 5 apricot. The packing was good, the roots looked good, the trees looked good.
My only complaint - and maybe this isnāt a complaint: the apricots were bigger, in diameter and in height, than expected. I was afraid to top them because they were so large already. Iām hoping that in their next year there are some lower potential scaffolds. Otherwise theyāll be starting high. I donāt actually know much about how apricots grow, so I guess Iām going to find out!
Ten of the 11 trees lived to see the end of summer. Those 10 look pretty good. Iām not sure what happened with the 11th - It woke up from dormancy, grew some leaves and died in early June. I donāt plan to ask for a refund or replacement because it could be the location I put it (which is kind of strange) and not anything wrong with the tree.
After the numerous stories of misnamed trees (from other places! not Mehrabyan as far as I know. ) Iāll check as best I can when they flower in spring to see if they match descriptions and report then, but Iām pretty hopeful!
Ordered a Pink Lady from them that looks and acts much more like a King David which they also sell. No other issues with it and was extremely precocious.
Ordered a Harrow Sweet that almost had all itās roots chopped off. Really struggled to put on any growth at all this season.
Anyone else have a missing order or know if something has happened to them? I havenāt been able to reach a human at the nursery for weeks. I know itās crunch time for nurseriesā¦but any update for things that were supposed to ship weeks ago would be nice.
Got my shipment 3 weeks late last year. They are probably just slammed with orders.
Last year my order was two weeks late but this year it was exactly on time. When I exchanged emails last year about my late order, I heard back within a few days. I suppose you already checked your spam folder? I hope they get back to you soon!
I got my order about 3 weeks later than they originally said, but I figured it was due to cold snaps. I did email them and heard back within 24 hours.
Thatās nice. Iāve emailed once a week for 3+ weeks and not heard anything. **correction I have an auto email today that itās being processed, so progress!
Last year I was frustrated with lack of communication and not knowing what happened to my order. It showed up and 2/3 trees survived. One just never leafed out. But they are good sized trees and look like they were well cared for.
Heres a $12 dolgo seedling from them this year. The other dolgo seedling was just a whip but roots were decent. I called them asking about the order after several weeks delay with no updates, they said there is a delay in shipping because it has been cold outside. The rootstocks i ordered were all nice though, Especially this dolgo below. Packed with damp saw dust. Very pleased with packaging. I am happy with quality and price, customer service isnt the best out there but its all good. Ill probably keep shopping with Cummins Nursery the future though. Thought id share my experience.
I emailed them and told them I wanted my rootstock moved up, which I had coming the week of 4/13.
They gave me noticed yesterday they are in transit. So far so good.
First time purchase from them. Will post later when they arrive.
So everyone is getting responsesā¦Maybe my emails are being blockedā¦they were responsive in winter when I changed one thing.
Just to FU on this that was also taken up in another Mehrabyan thread: to date, I have not received any response from this nursery for 2 months. Iāve checked my spam. I stopped trying after one email about the trees I finally received. I worked in my fatherās retail business growing up and was taught (the now virtually defunct) old school business approach that āthe customer is always rightā and you go talk to people the moment they come in. I know online retailers and especially nurseries can have a hard time responding, but 2 months nothing is unacceptable to me and I wonāt be a customer again. That said, Iāve had some wonderful nursery experiences this year and feel I now have a solid list of trusted people/businesses that I can reliably contact and get good plants from.
Is there a phone number you can try?
Tried that a while ago. No worries, Iām glad many other people have had some good experiences.
