My granddaughter is now 2 years old. She did a sleepover with us last night for the first time. It went well.
This morning for breakfast she had eggs, sausage, biscuit and some of my (blueberry/black raspberry) low sugar chia jam.

Neighbor had one. They were having issues with the new baby and the dog. When the dog lunged to attack the baby twice, they had to get rid of it. It broke through the glass window when it saw a cat outside. Kinda crazy dog, but it was a beautiful dog of the black and white color theme like in your photo. They had to rehome it.
I saw a mini-Australian shepherd at the garden supply. Cute as hell. Almost made me want a dog. But I have enuf trouble taking care of me, let alone a dog. If I had a farm / land maybe would have a dog, dunno. I pet other peopleās dogs when possible. I let them do the work.
editā¦almost missed the bikini girl!
Dunno about American shepherds, but Aussies are high strung and almost a little too smart. A friend of mineās Aussie randomly decided I was an enemy. First time I ever met her, just walked into his house when there were already like 10 people there and she saw me and flipped out. No idea what it was about me specifically. Maybe a bad experience with someone who looked similar.
Ran into him on a trail like 5 years later and that dog immediately remembered me; flipped out again. She was like āOMG ITāS THAT F****ING GUY!!!ā Haha. So yeah, they might be a little too smart for their own good.
Love it when someone elseās dog/cat comes up and asks for pets. I call them āloanersā.
Hoosierquilt aka Patty left the forum several years ago. She was an experienced fruit grower and very lovely and kind moderator. She is missed by many of us.
She was very good and I miss her comments.
I lost out on interacting with @hoosierquilt while she was active but after reading many posts from her on older threads and then being surprised to discover that she was a moderator I messaged her directly. I was glad to hear that she is doing well. She had a great knack for tact and blessed our community by her presence and is still missed.
Kidās tractor is nocer than mine.
Same. It belongs to a contractor we hired.
Sadly we donāt have one of our own.
I can relate to that. I get tractor envy but couldnāt justify anything beyond a riding mower with a lot as small as mine. A man, or woman, can dream though.
We could certainly use one with our 66 acres, but none of it is pasture, so we make do with a zero turn mower and hire out tractor work when we need it.
66, I wish i had a 10th of that. It would still be a huge improvement over my postage stamp sized portion of this earth. But Iām happy to even have that considering the meandering path it took to get here and the ludicrous price of land at the moment.
We fortunately bought the land in 2015, before so many people had the good idea to move to the country or invest in rural real estate around the pandemic. Land prices have gone up 5x since we bought. Itās still a steal in Northeast Texas compared to much of the country though.
Iām 28 with 4 kids, and moved to NE Texas recently. I am very thankful because we could live (and homestead) in family land, but people my generation have a really hard time finding anything nowadays⦠So expensive, and wages are about the same
Absolutely. We were able to roll equity from the house we had purchased during the market downturn in 2008 in DFW into the house we built here in 2019-2020. Very fortunate to have that advantage.
(Iām pretty close to your generation at 36, but my husband is 44)
Took this picture on a scorchingly hot day in July in MD. even on the hot days, there is still work to be done! luckily the days are cooler now

Lovely and good looking family. The little girl is adorable.
