Messina Peach SEPT 2, 2017- Z 5b NY - Bravo!

MESSINA peach in Zone 5b - 35 miles south of Albany, NY.

Picked here on September 2. It is baseball size. Solid “peachy” taste without being over ovearing. Didn’t measure brix ( will do this weekend).

I did not think of “brixing” because the peach was sooo good.

How do you describe a peach which is heavy to the hand firm to the bite but as soon as the initial firmness gives the juices flow as if it was overripe but it is not. The flavor as I said was very good. I had one warm off the tree and another after being refrigerated its like asking which of my twin girls I love more.

The tree gave me about 30 large peaches and this was only its SECOND year in the ground at my place. It may have been a two year old when I got it bare root.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ONE

incredible looking peach. sounds delicious too. Any issues with the wildlife getting to your fruit?

Not through my chicken wire covered chain link six foot fence with an electrified 28 inch ribbon section surrounding my espaliers .

Not that I am OCD about my trees😀.

For some reason the birds haven’t been that bad this year.

wow…sounds like you have your trees on lock down. hey, whatever works.

It was a creeping obsession to defeat those forces that were arrayed against my fruit!

It happened over a period of 3-4 years. I didn’t even realize the extent to which I was taking it.

It was not until it was finished that I looked back and said … “holy. %#… your are nuts”

But NOW… “I’m in obsession heaven” and its not so bad :sunglasses:

Holy Crap is that your backyard?

I can’t help feeling jealous, in a good way though. Well done!
