Last year, I planted 4 good-sized fruit trees, an Elberta peach, a Fan-stil pear, a sour cherry , and a Methley plum. They’re all blooming this spring except the plum. I planted the trees a year ago in February, and they all bloomed except the plum. I removed the immature fruits to allow the trees to put their energy towards developing roots, and all four trees grew well last summer. This spring, the plum is putting on a nice growth of leaves, but no flowers at all. Al four trees are in a wide-open space with all day sun. I improved the soil, used mycorrhizal when i planted them, and have them heavily mulched. Is the Methley just not mature enough, or? It’s over 6’ tall. Thanks for any advice!
At that size I have to doubt it’s a Methley. It’s among the most blossom productive plums I have. You stated that you removed fruit last year, did you remove the fruit buds?

It didn’t bloom last year, either. The peach, pear, and cherry did.
I planted a Shiro tree a couple years back and AU Rosa
AU Rosa bloomed and set 100 plums the first season. It is self pollinating.
Shiro grew some nice long branches and produces 1 blossom that first year but set no fruit.
Hard frost terminated all fruit.
The second year AU Rosa bloomed well and set lots of fruit again.
Shiro had just a few blossoms here and there… it did set some fruit.
Hard frost terminated all fruit.
The third spring (this spring) AU Rosa bloomed well again and has set fruit.
Shiro looks like this in year 3.
It took Shiro a couple of seasons to develop fruit spurs all along those branches and then in year 3 it has bloomed very well.

I guess I just need to be more patient. Thanks!
My ‘Methley’ spent a couple years just growing before it started putting out flowers. Then it flowered lightly probably around the third year. Fourth year and on, just loaded.
