I dont find much information on the Monticello.

The Monticello Citrumelo is a rare variety grown by Tom McClendon in GA. This is partly the reason why there is so little information about it - the mother tree is quarantined. All the rest of us have are seedlings grown from the fruit he’s made available before. Luckily they are mostly true-to-type so we’ll just have to wait many years for the plants to mature

Thank you for the information , I wondered. It was behind the quarantine zone when they shut the door with 40-4-26-.01 “Georgia is under quarantine for citrus greening disease and the Asian citrus psyllid, which has been in effect since 2009. This quarantine restricts the movement of citrus plants and related materials to prevent the spread of these serious citrus diseases.” How long until you have seedlings or seed for sale?

You’re welcome! It’s unfortunate about Georgia but they’re lucky to have Madison Citrus Nursery! Several new greening-resistant citrus varieties coming out too.
We are grafting trees from the juvenile Monticello Citrumelo we have, so we could have trees for sale as soon as next year, but they will take a bit longer to fruit. As it is though, even our mature, grafted Citrumelos waited until year 3 to try setting fruit, and they probably won’t hold and ripen any until year 4 or 5.
We might have seeds available but it depends! Right now we must rely on other growers to supply the fruit and process them for seeds.
