Those dark grapes look delicious!
What a dream market!
There are 4-5 stands like this in the market. One lady only sells berries. I’ll take more pics next week. ![]()
Back in the day; US Farmers markets looked like this; but bigger. Used to go to the Jacksonville Florida market and there were 4-5 big multi-fruit vendors. But dozens of farmers direct selling. Seems like about the 1990’s it died off
It is bigger the entire market goes around the entire city every Wednesday and two streets every Saturday. On Friday the fish monger is in front if the cathedral. ![]()

Fish mongers are still a thing here. Especially shrimp peddlers.
NYC has some pretty awesome farmers markets. I walk a few blocks from my house every Saturday to the market, where I can find dozens of different apple and pear varieties that aren’t available in stores, along with things like gooseberries, currants, and several strawberry varieties, including Mara des Bois.
I don’t think anything beats the south of France though.
Well, I understand why you said elsewhere that no one grows their own fruit. I wish we had access to just a fraction of what’s there. Truly beautiful.
It fantastic. Its great to talk to the growers.
