Anyone have a mosquito trap that actually works? I was going to buy a Dynotrap but there where many review saying in doesn’t work for mosquitoes and yet others say it does.
It looks like a wimpy version of the real thing, the Mosquito Magnet

From the reviews I have read, the Mosquito Magnet is nearly useless. Has anyone tried them with success? Just across the state line 2 miles from us the mosquito is their state bird, so if Mosquito Magnet worked, the makers could get rich in Minnesota.

We’ve dealt with very few mosquitoes this year, they’re usually a real nuisance. I left a few buckets and other containers in a few spots on the patio, edge of the woods, etc… Left them full of nasty water with mold growing in them, etc… Just what they love. Ever week or so I apply a bit of 9.1% Fipronil. “Taurus SC” brand bought off of Amazon a few years ago. I got it to spray around the house for general insects and it works great at getting rid of a yellowjacket or hornet’s nest. Anyway, experimenting a bit I stick a small twig the size of a toothpick down into the bottle maybe 3/4". A relatively small amount compared to the 4 or more gallons of water in the container. Water teeming with mosquito larvae. I simply stick the “toothpick” into the water and swish it around a bit. The larvae die and I’m assuming the adult mosquitoes which land and deposit new eggs into that water, die as well…
Probably any micro-encapsulated insecticide would provide similar results. I’ve just found that Fipronil works very well for it so that’s what I’ll stick with.
