@murky … I got some good help here… and watched others on youtube and simply did it just like they demonstrated.
I grafted 4 apple scions to rootstock a bit later and they were all succcesful too… beginners luck … perhaps. Hope it continues.

I think bark grafting is the easiest, and most beginner friendly graft.
