I want to try and grow muscadines in Denmark. Ocasionally we have -15c frost for a day or two, so they need to be able to withstand that.
I have space for 2 vines.
I would love them to be different varieties.
Does anyone have some suggestions as to which varieties to chose?
Early maturity will be required. UARK has a new release which would probably be a good choice for your climate. It won’t be available until later this year. Early Fry, Hall, and Lane would be options.
You’re going to struggle to find muscadines at all in Europe, and varieties cultivated in the USA can’t be easily imported. Seed grown is probably the only real possibility. Generally muscadines do poorly in Europe. In general, it’s not as hot as muscadines like and the season is too short, or the soils are Alkaline and therefore unsuitable, or both.
