I planted it in water back in May 2017, then it started rapidly sprouting October 2017. Out of my 15 avocados it was one of my most promising baby’s and I care very dearly. I named it Wiggly and now it’s lost it’s leaves but one. It looks like it has some sort of black inflection going down the steam. It seems to be moving rapidly down every day and it breaks my heart. I already lost one like that and I need to save my Wiggly. I water it to the middle of the seed and let the roots under water and the stem over the water line.
Plz help me save Wiggly !
did you post a pic? for some reason isn’t there.
anyway, not really certain as to what might be causing it, but some avocado seedlings will deteriorate if roots are waterlogged too long.
always safer to transfer to well-draining soil once germinated
The leaf drop and black stem sound like it may be from root rot. Maybe cool weather and too much water? Young avocados do poorly in wet and cold conditions.
