Tony that greenhouse is way too small. Remember your birds love a large long greenhouse, no more insects for the wife to deal with.

I am just using it to start garden vegetable in the end of February and not growing plants and trees year around. My wife hates the little fungus black insects flying around the kitchen windows when I started my veggies indoor in March.

I think I spoke with Scott a few years ago on it. He said I was picking them too early (though they fell off at the slightest touch). Even when I picked them later, they didn’t impress me- at least they were somewhat sweet, but not much flavor IMO. Maybe yours get more flavor- maybe more sun? I’ve been growing half a dozen varieties, but now anytime I graft it is Oscar (for flavor, with sweet + tart kick) or Girardi (for size control) depending on the location.

Did you bury the new graft, or wait a year? I’d be worried about water getting into the new graft and causing it to fail, though I’ve never tried it.

I usually wait a year and let them grow them buried them in April the following year. My Chico somehow managed to died at -17F this year at ground level and now all the buds that buried a foot below ground start to grow back below the soil line. So it works to save the same cultivar. I still got one branch of your Oscar scion graft to a large wild mulberry trees on my property. I may graft a tree of it next Spring. Liked the Oscar flavor but the fruit is smaller than Kokuso.

Nice! Well, nice that it saved it, not nice that you are seeing -17F.
I’ve gotten down to close to -10F in the past, but haven’t had a low below around 0 for 5+ years now and this winter was more like +14F for a low. Much more comfortable and most of my unprotected in-ground figs came through very well.
