My fruit trees in the back yard. Please post yours.

Tell me again how you overwinter all the figs?
I chopped them down to about 2 feet tall and added a foot of dirt to cover 1/2 of the bush and the top is covered by mulch. I removed the dirt and mulch in early Spring. You can save the trimmings to root more figs or trade them with GF members for different varieties.

Nice colors, are most of your leaves on the ground now?
We had a cold front and rain blow thru Thursday night. Tons of leaves on the ground, and it was like a lot of the leaves on the trees seemed to turn golden overnight. After being in the 80s earlier this week, it’s 39 right now, and might get a light frost tonight. Not looking forward to cold weather, but guess it’s time. It’s been a very warm fall so far, but think we can finally cover up the outside A/C unit for the year!
We had 2 or 3 nights of hard frost. Lots of leaves are on the ground. Just aerated the 15000sq lawn section, I will overseed the lawn with the new KY Turf Fescue to mix in with my Ky Blue for more disease and drought resistant. I will overseed for about 3 years in the Fall and hopefully the KY Turf Fescue will take over the KY Blue.
Wish me luck!!!

You’ll love the turf type fescue. It is certainly more drought tolerant and has great foot feel if you like to walk around barefoot. It also stands up to abuse better than KBG. The only drawback I’ve found is it does not heal it’s wounds as easily as KBG. If you dig a hole or have some type of mishap that kills your grass it will not heal itself without your intervention. That’s why to me a mix of 75% TTF and 25% KBG would be ideal. Also if you plant TTF make sure you cut your grass high. 4” or greater. It stripes really well.
And if by KY fescue you are referring to Kentucky 31 I’d pass on that. It’s horrible. Poor foot feel and irregular. Whatever you get make sure it says “turf type tall fesue”
Sounds good. My KBG got fungus during the humid part of the summer and tired of treating the brown spots. I read many good reviews about the KTF. I will adjust the John Deere blade to cut at 4". Hopefully, the water bill will also decrease.

Yep,. I got the Turf Tall Fescue. The local Loveland seeds company charged me $88 for a 40lbs bag.
