I wasn’t sure where would be a good place to share this picture that appeared on my Instagram today so here it’ll go. It’s a cross section of a graft union between a non-astringent persimmon to the top, and the astringent seedling rootstock. It’s pretty cool how the wood grew together. It looks like perhaps a whip & tongue was used.

Wow, that’s wild! Now I’m picturing how that would look used in woodworking. You could make some neat things.

It looks even more interesting in older trees. The center starts to turn black!
