I have a Honey Kist Nectarine about 4 years old. This year about 3/4 of the fruit were infected.I usually spray 2-3 times with Daconil for Peach Leaf Curl during dormancy.
Some of my other Prunus like Bush Cherry,Apricot and some Plums get Brown Rot Blossom Blight. This was probably transferred from them.
My question is,does this mean the tree will have this every year, unless something more effective is used, like Indar?
Once your apricots and plums have it established nearby it does tend to keep cycling back each season, spores spread easily between trees. Daconil isn’t really the right tool for brown rot, it’s targeting different pathogens. Something like Captan or Indar around bloom and petal fall is where most people see better results with Monilinia. Probably worth switching up the spray program before next season.
Probably yes. Bloom period is very critical infection period, specially when it rains. You can be spray during bloom with Daconil (very effective at that stage), and in the last month before harvest with Indar (at 4 and at 2 weeks before harvest).
FYI, infection during bloom often kills the flowers, but sometimes it stays kind of dormant and manifests in the last few weeks prior to harvest.
