Netting Young Fruit Trees

Hello, I planted a red haven peach tree in Spring 2023; this year I’m letting just a few fruits ripen. Last year I got a couple of peaches but as soon as they were ripe enough, they disappeared… I’m fairly sure the squirrels got them.

What is the best material/brand for netting young fruit trees? Links to purchase are appreciated. I imagine throwing a net on the tree will be rather weighty, so if anyone has simple wood frame designs to help with that, it would be helpful too.

In addition to this Red Haven, I have even younger pears and a cherry. The ideal netting would protect them from nearby squirrels, ground hogs and birds.

Thanks in advance for the tips.

I have no experience in this regard, but I imagine building a frame from PVC plumbing or electrical pipe might be better than using wood. It would also be easy to disassemble if you either don’t glue the joints or add threaded connectors if you do glue the joints.

I have found PVC piping pretty easy to work with. It’s not super cheap, but with the current price of lumber it’s a good alternative with the added benefit of not rotting like wood.
