I’ve never seen this before with pears. Maybe not enough water we been hot here or maybe too much water? I did water about two weeks ago. Was thinking of watering again we been dry. This is on my comice ohxf 33 only Bosc unaffected.
Pear scab can present like that. Cool wet spring for you this year?
Yes it was on the cold side not very wet here or at least not as wet as normal. No sign of scab on them. Have seen on my Bosc some scab. But the comice was blemish free
I have something similar on my Twentieth Century oriental pears, but the Hosui pears on the same tree have not been affected. We had a strange spring this year: cold and wet at first, but suddenly warm and dry after May 5th. Apple trees right next to the pear tree have had one of the most scab-free years I’ve ever seen. I sprayed the pear tree with copper and the apple trees with lime-sulfur; maybe that made a difference.
I have that same thing happen on some of my russeted and semi-russeted apples. St Edmunds Pippin and Hudson’s Golden Gem both got it a lot. SEP got a ton this year, about half the fruit. Maybe HGG would have as well, but it is taking a year off after a transplant (and going too vigorous).
