Got a new grafting tool today. I played around with it a little on a limb I pruned from an apple tree. It seemed to make a tight fit. I suspect it would heal cleaner than my rather crude cleft grafts

I love these Omega tools. We got a bunch for for the Extension so we can give classes to the public without fear of people getting cut.
I’d add a roll of parafilm (e-bay) and a roll of butyl rubber tape (hardware store) to your kit.
I put a patch of butyl on the exposed scion stump above the graft to prevent the graft from drying out.
I don’t do this with every graft, just with every graft I want to survive.
