New grafts - Were not dormant

Hoping this -3 did not kill my newly grafted apples and pears. Most of the grafts still had their leaves and did not start going dormant yet. Not sure why they hung on to their leaves so long this year! I will post some picks of the grafts a little later today. I just got back in after spending an hour outside chipping ice off vehicles and walking the property. Had good intentions of taking pictures early this morning but my cellphone stopped working due to the cold.

All my apples have leaves on them this year too. But what is interesting the Japanese plums have plenty of green leaves on trees and they even look somewhat alive after -12 F this night. I think the tip damage is guaranteed.

Some of mine are still green too.

It’s going to be back up to 45 F by late this week so let’s hope this fluctuating weather does not cause more harm.
