New group has been suggested

Been around the block for years at other sites, both now defunct and still active. Generally I am a tomato grower but also have fruit trees. I will prowl around for a while before taking part. Daily check-ins will happen. Hope to see some familiar names and make new friends.

Welcome! Lots of people are growing tomatoes! And grafting tomatoes and making tomato trellises and selling tomato starts and breeding tomatoes…

What are your other fruit trees? and yes, tell us about your favorite tomatoes.

Also, you should post a message here: Introducing myself to Scott's forum. to introduce yourself in case people don’t look at this thread.

Over the years, (and I will do the introduction at that suggested place) since my beginnings in gardening that “real” tomatoes only have appeared since 1999. From that time forward varieties numbering in the many hundreds have appeared in the gardens. My favorites would be a list maybe 200 long. Limited space has limited the number of plants, therefore the total varieties grown. Every year I have several that have become “favorites”.

From 1971 to 1999 the tomato garden was full of boys, girls, betters, etc., etc. Then I “discovered” heirlooms, later to be also called OPs. From '99 onward hybrids got very little space in my gardens. Being a bit wordy and discovering a new to me group, my introduction may take up more space.

I am still absorbing this site having had it suggested by an old friend. I will submit growing lists in the appropriate spots and not as a teaser but will name all-time favorites when I figure out where and when.

As to fruits, we have six apple trees, a couple of pears, a couple peaches and a hundred year old apricot. In the late 1910s our property was a large grape orchards wild old time grapes are around but left to the wildlife. Rhubarb, thornless blackberries and raspberries have been planted. So far I have been too lazy to care for the fruits like I should. Maybe here I can learn what to do.
