Was looking around to get a hybrid redbud, particularly the ‘Pink Pom Poms’ cultivar, and my go to nursery for ornamentals (mail order) sent me this note when I asked about it:
“we probably will not be carrying any hybrid red buds for a while. There is a disease that is incurable at the moment that attacks red buds.”
Anyone know what they are talking about?
A quick google search indicates it might be vascular streak dieback.

I have not heard of that. I have a wild red bud in my back yard. Never bought one.
I have seen the store bought trees…
One of our neighbors about a mile around our county road has one… it blooms earlier than wilds… and has a diffeeent shape to it than most wilds. The blossoms are a little darker red than wilds.
Our new home site has a nice large wild serviceberry in the edge of the back yard and a few wild azalea… pink and white.
No dogwood or redbud. I will transplant small wild trees to get those started.
