Nikita’s Gift Persimmon Sourcing

Hi All,

New to the forum. I’m wondering if anyone on here can recommend nurseries to acquire Nikita’s Gift Persimmon from?

I saw that tyty in Georgia has it, but I’ve had mixed experiences with them in the past.

I’m based in central CT, zone 6b - but mail order is fine.

@Incarnata, I bought my Nikita’s Gift persimmon tree from Just Fruit and Exotics in December of 2022, though they are presently out of stock.

Not to worry though, Plant Me Green has them back in stock at the moment:

You might want to hurry.

I would second Plant Me Green. Reasonable price, and they have nice larger stock. I was pleased with the NG I got from them last year.

Wow thank you for the incredible and timely responses! That is a very affordably priced plant, I think I will order one from them!

And Plant Me Green is where I sourced my Saijo persimmon at that same time.

Plant me Green has massive plants so they have a massive shipping price. One Green World offers them but with a cheaper shipping price

@elivings1, my shipping charge from Plant Me Green on 12/23/22 for my 2-3 foot tall Saijo persimmon tree was $15.00.

@Incarnata, the price for the Nikita’s Gift is also significantly less that what the Saijo cost me at that point.

My shipping charge was also a flat $15. And not a massive plant. To ship to the east coast from one green world, now that is a massive expense!!! Often the shipping ends up being more than the cost of the plants and I give up on my order

I concur. My shipping was a flat $15 as well, for a 42" tree.

Maybe because I live in Colorado my shipping was so high

It may be. I just ordered 1 tree as well, thier rates may stack?

@elivings1, it could be related to the distance that the package had to go in order to get to you. Plant Me Green is in Florida, and I am in Georgia, so I could definitely see that coming in at a higher charge for you.

Alternatively, was this some time ago? Shippers oftentimes change their pricing structure on a yearly basis, so the cost that Plant Me Green was charged by the shipping company could have changed significantly.

Again, I just want to say thank you to everyone who replied to my post. I acquired a tiny Nikita’s gift from logees last year and it promptly died or was possibly dead when I purchased it dormant in the very early spring. So I really value your responses. Thank you

I have not had good luck with logees. I got a few hardy passion flower from them and all died quickly while the ones from One Green World thrived. What was the difference I don’t know.

For future reference, please stay away from TyTy nursery. It is beyond awful. If you search this forum, there are many posts about this nursery.

Most victims were those new to growing fruit.

@mamuang, I am so thankful that I bypassed TyTy when I first ordered muscadine vines in 2018. I just had an uneasy feeling about them and was willing to pay a little bit more in order to get mine from Ison’s instead, and I am thankful that I did after reading about how many people here had bad experiences with TyTy or their other sub-businesses that operate under different names.
