North Carolina Nurseries?

Hi all,

I will be traveling through Ohio, W.Virgina and Virgina to North Carolina this week. Are there any nurseries on that path or close to Mt. Ariy that I should visit? I am mainly interested in non-conventional and native fruit (think honeyberries and NA paw paws).

Edible Landscaping is on the west side of Virginia. As a side note, a lot of nurseries are shut down for the winter or out of stock only selling christmas trees.

https://camforest.com is in Chapel Hill, NC.
There is a maple specialist just outside of Chapel Hill with several hundred varieties.
https://clinesnursery.com is in Shelby with a satellite near Deep Gap, NC. You won’t find much on the truly edible fruit side of the spectrum for either.
Mustard Seed in Blowing Rock, NC tends to have a few edge-of-the-wool plants like aronia, honeyberry, rowan, and hybrid-goumi, but they are probably closed for the season and don’t do mail-order. The tend to largish sizes on woody plants and will have a lot of more herbaceous edibles and natives.
Mckenzie-Farms is just outside of NC.
Walker Farm / Pawpaw Planet are in Sparta, NC (you can find contact on Facebook, and Woodie is a member here.) It is not a large nursery and I’m not sure when he accepts visitors as a lot will be buttoned up once things start to go dormant. He likely has assorted seed and will likely soon have assorted scion.
