I have found pencil lasts longer than permanent marker. I have used Dymo embossed tape which lasts for years, but the hand tape embossers for it keep failing on me. I stick the adhesive label on pieces of aluminum blinds. The vinyl blinds crack and break. Aluminum pie pan strips rip the first season. Keep a paper chart for a back- up.

Every major garden center has a label printer. I’ve used one many years ago.
Sorry I can’t recommend a brand of machine…but suggest you visit some nurseries that use them and quietly inquire?
I use sharpies…and once a year may have to do a do-over.
