I drove from NJ through NY, Vermont to Canada. I saw a lot of naturalized orange daylily like flowers along the way at private property and many other places. Are those orange daylily? Or some tiger lily?
I grow some orange daylily. But deer always takes it out before it fully blooms. But those flowers along the highway seem not disturbed by animal. So not sure if they are of the same type as mine.
Two completely different plants are called Tiger Lilies, Lilium lancifolium (an Asian Lily) and Hemerocallis fulva (a Daylily).

The most common clones of H. fulva are triploids and nearly sterile. It is a common misconception that they have escaped cultivation and moved into the wild. In reality they simply persist amazingly well where planted and so will far outlive the homes and gardens where they were planted which makes it look like they got into wild areas when in fact that is rarely the case.
I would like to know who originated the common name “Tiger Lily” and why they did not know the difference between a striped tiger and a spotted leopard: Leopard Lily.
